Watermelon

You’re one in a melon! Firm, sweet, orange-red flesh with small seeds. Round fruits that grow about 7 inches in diameter (about 3-6 pounds). Vines can grow along the ground or up a trellis. When ready to harvest, the exposed surface will become dull and the underside will turn yellowish or light green. If it’s white, it’s not ripe. You can tap the Watermelon and it should make a ‘plunk’ sound vs. a ‘plink’ sound. The Watermelon should feel heavy for its size. Once the curly tendrils that are located closest to the melon completely dry out, it’s ready! This means that the stem is no longer feeding the Watermelon.
